Do you remember the feeling of having a loose tooth as a child? I had completely forgotten that feeling - wiggling the tooth around with your toungue, that weird hole when it was gone - the taste. Do you remember?
It was always so exciting... soon the "tooth fairy" (which I knew to be my parents) would come and leave me something exciting under my pillow! My sister and I would come up with ingenious plans to extract teeth... some of them quite painful!
I was able to slightly relive this recently when john and I were both bending over looking for something in the closet. I started standing up slightly sooner than he and he started standing up faster than I and hit my chin with his shoulder. teeth crashing, grinding, chipping, bleeding, not fun. my tooth was slightly loose for a week but has regained its place. yucky.
"It was when I was happiest that I longed most...The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing...to find the place where all the beauty came from."
yes! I LOVED that feeling. especially when the tooth would be held by just a strand or two of... flesh? what a mysterious experience that was!
